Tinker AFB, OK – Base Supply & Munitions
Kicking off the year in January, the 72 LRS/PMI Munitions Team Coordinated with US Army Security Assistance Command, US Army Redstone Arsenal, Anniston Munitions Center, 72 ABW to palletize, store and deliver 67 pallets of MK-82 bombs and accessories, Hydra Rockets, Bunker Buster and TOW Missiles and small arms ammunition. The PMI Team ensured various activities met timelines needed to support PACOM, CENTCOM, SOUTHCOM, and USTRANSCOM ground and air transportation. They participated in a bi-weekly “how goes it” teleconference between various commands, in conjunction with wing safety and the munitions accountability officer, to assure leadership that timeline targets were being met and on schedule.
PMI worked with a 6-person team of active-duty Air Terminal Operations Center personnel to receive, store and prepare for air shipment to various international military destination points across the globe. Additionally, munitions personnel provided entry inspections and escort duty for 17 commercial semi-tractor trucks. Within a three-week span, munitions operation personnel assisted active personnel in the movement of munitions within storage structures and the final transportation to various cargo movement locations in preparation of military airflow. All the while, under the surveillance and evaluation of wing safety and government quality assurance evaluator personnel, no safety violations or personnel injury incidents occurred. Overall, personnel processed more than 70 short tons/67 pallets, 17 vehicles, and $20M of munitions assets to support government operations. Well done!
